The Rev. Kevin Palmer was installed as our pastor on June 27,
2004. Prior to accepting our call, he served a congregation
in
northeastern Indiana for 3 years.
Pastor Palmer was born in Springfield, Illinois in May, 1972,
and born again to the new life of faith through Holy Baptism one month
later at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Decatur, Illinois.
His
family
lived in Decatur and in Wichita Falls, Texas for several years, but
most of his childhood was spent in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
He
graduated from Valparaiso University in 1994 with a
bachelor's degree in history, and taught at Lutheran schools in Mt.
Prospect, Illinois and New York City before entering the
seminary.
While studying for the ministry, he served his vicarage year at Zion
Lutheran Church in Brighton, Colorado. His Master of Divinity
was
earned in 2001 from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and he was then
ordained into the Office of the Holy Ministry.
Pastor
Palmer was married to Jill Vandermer on June 5, 1999 in
Pennsylvania. Their union has been blessed with the gift of two
beautiful daughters, Abigail and Sophia and most recently a son,
Nathanael.
